17/01/10 The Maxibons were featured and received positive reviews on South: Live, on BBC Radio Sussex, Surrey and Solent tonight.
Presented by Phil Jackson every Sunday evening, South: Live showcases unsigned local bands with a panel of key industry figures who voice their opinions on what they hear – which in the case of The Maxibons was Singer At The Station.
First panelist Phil Nelson, Management for singer songwriter Duke Special, said the song “Really got through to me the way nothing else during the show did”
Producer Al Scott who has a platinum disc to his name with The Levellers said “an impressive bash, tight, had a good attitude,” and that they were “a band worth looking out more for.”
Finally music journalist Duncan Hall said “Loved it the first time I heard it”, “it’s so rare to hear a demo where the music starts off great and then the voices are quite strong and powerful - it’s normally the place where it all falls apart” Duncan then went on to liken front man Kevin to Gary Lightbody out of Snow Patrol.
